Olympic diver denies supermarket attack

April 28th, 2010

Blake Aldridge, who partnered Tom Daley at the 2008 Beijing games, pleads not guilty to common assault on security guard

Olympic diver Blake Aldridge pleaded not guilty today to attacking a supermarket security guard.

Aldridge, 27, who partnered Tom Daley, then 14, at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is to stand trial at Bromley magistrates court, south London, on August 18.

Aldridge, of Beckenham, south London, denied common assault today at the same court.

The charge stems from an alleged incident at Tesco in Beckenham in February.

Aldridge and Daley came eighth in the 10-metre synchronised dive at the Beijing games.

Aldridge made a mobile phone call midway through the Olympic final and then blamed Daley's nerves for the pair's placing.
